Writer / Creative Assistant, Video - Part Time, Contract

We're seeking a talented writer and sewing expert to help us produce high-quality educational content across multiple platforms.

This is a part-time contract position (approximately 20 hours/week) based in Portland with a hybrid work arrangement - remote work with weekly in-office requirements. This position is open to Portland-area residents only.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will help us create educational sewing videos for our YouTube channel.

Responsibilities include:

• Writing educational and entertaining scripts for our YouTube videos that keep people engaged and interested
• Repurposing scripts into other forms of written content such as blog articles and social media posts
• Planning, constructing, and photographing sewing samples and step-outs efficiently and accurately
• Coordinating and supporting video shoots including planning props, samples, and all production details
• Researching sewing techniques and methods to ensure accurate, helpful content
• Collaborating with the team to improve content quality and production workflows

• Strong sewing knowledge and construction skills across various techniques
• Excellent writing ability with talent for simplifying complex concepts
• Photography skills for creating clear, attractive instructional visuals
• Experience with content creation and/or educational materials
• Strong organizational and project planning abilities
• Self-directed research skills and willingness to learn new techniques
• Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
• Comfort with digital tools and content management systems

Location

We are located in inner NE Portland, Oregon.

This position requires residence in the Portland metro area with the ability to travel to our NE Portland office approximately once per week for video shoots and collaboration. The remainder of the work can be completed remotely.
